Welcome to AA Intergroup - Wilmington, NC

Welcome to the Web pages of the Wilmington Area Intergroup Office of Alcoholics Anonymous, A.A. This office serves the four county area consisting of Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender Counties in North Carolina. The Intergroup office by AA tradition, exists primarily as a service organization. It is the first point of contact with A.A. for many who believe they may have a drinking problem. In fact, there is an A.A. member at our office who answers the phone when anyone in the four county area calls Alcoholics Anonymous.

The Intergroup office is the communications center and exchange hub for over 80 groups with nearly 200 meetings each week in the Wilmington Area. We maintain a roster of volunteers who work our phone lines, updating it as new names or corrections are received from the local groups. We receive calls from people looking for help or information about A.A. We direct visitors to meetings near their location or to a meeting that they request. When a person calls for help, a member of A.A. is given the callers number to contact them and offer help. The office maintains a log of these calls and tries to keep in touch with the caller.

Our office works closely with the two districts we service to help provide people to speak about A.A. at public information talks, schools, community organizations, businesses and professional groups. We publish updated meeting lists as the need arises, giving location, day and time of all meetings in this area as well as maintaining this website. The Intergroup office maintains a complete inventory of all A.A. conference approved literature. With permission from the groups we serve, we also have chips and medallions for sale. With the approval of the groups we serve we also maintain a modest inventory of non-conference recovery books. The board of directors of the Intergroup meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Intergroup office. The local groups send representatives to these meetings on a bi-monthly basis. Our Website has a brief description of A.A. program, a calendar of upcoming events in A.A. community, a calendar of daily meetings and links to other internet sites of interest. If you can’t find what you need on these pages, please call our volunteer help line at (910) 794-1840.
